Aurora Dawn Foundation began in 1989 with the founding of ''Marty's Place'', a one-bedroom residence in San Francisco's Castro district, for homeless persons with AIDS. In 1993, Marty's Place moved to a larger, residence in San Francisco's Mission District that could accommodate up to eight house members. At that time Marty's Place was incorporated as the Aurora Dawn Foundation, a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. Our goal is to provide shelter and support services for homeless persons with AIDS who have nowhere else to turn.
