I have a 27 year old niece who lives in Polk County. She currently lives with a half-brother, but the situation is becoming difficult. My niece has mental health issues, PTSD, anxiety, depression and other co-occurring disorders. She was involved in a car wreck about 18 months ago and, I believe, has suffered a traumatic brain injury. She is currently unemployed, can not find work because I believe she is self-medicating by using marijuana and probably could not pass a drug test. Her half-brother, who is also my nephew, says that he can not turn her out because she has no where else to go, but his health is very precarious with morbid obesity. He is essentially supporting her. Is there a place for her in Iowa that could be transitional housing? She is covered under Medicade, I believe. She can not get in to see a Psychiatrist or Psychologist until April.
