Informing Our Children, Inc. was founded in 1994 by Doreen Berts a mother of seven and a residence of the Glenville Community. Ms. Berts started an athletic/reading program with eleven (11) children on her front porch while utilizing the backyard for basketball activities. The initial objective of the project was to promote the academic success of children in the community. However, it was soon recognized that these children were in need of basic comprehension skills along with other fundamental life and social skills.
