The King Center (Formerly the Martin Luther King Ecumenical Center) was founded in 1969 to provide services to the low-income families within the inner city of Tacoma, WA. The agency has evolved into the largest provider of direct services to the homeless throughout Tacoma/Pierce County. The agency operates emergency shelters, for men, women and families. The prevention programs include maternity case management and case management for teenage parents and the mentally Ill. Payee services, rental assistance, emergency motel vouchering, health and housing advocacy, for individuals and families are also services provided.

We receive many requests from users who would like to donate to the women's shelters listed. Please call the shelter directly at (253) 383-1585 and ask how to donate your items. If you would like to volunteer, please call the same number and ask for their current volunteer oppoturnities.

Hello My name is Cynthia Johnson--proprieter of Cece's Best Friends Closet a non-profit organization to help women in the transitional phase of their life...we are a new organization that provides clothing for a fresh new start...I'm hosting an event on May 7, 2011..we have yet to determine where--hope to have location finalized this week. The event is "Mother's Day Love Blessing"....we want to invite the women who are currently benefiting from your organization to come and fellowship with us and get clothing, jewelry and accessories to start over...we would like to service as many women as God sees the need to help...
