Wesley Shelter was founded in 1983 to provide shelter to domestic violence victims and their children. A broad base of support that includes the faith community, State and Federal grants, City and County funding, United Way support, private foundation grants and general contributions from local citizens and businesses has enabled the agency to expand over the years to to provide not only shelter, but a comprehensive support network for the agency's clients. In addition to domestic violence victims, the agency provides services to homeless women and their children, sexual assault victims, to pregnant and/or parenting adolescents and to displaced homemakers. Education on these issues and their prevention is provided to other service providers and to the community at large.
