Women and ChildrenAnn's HouseAnn's HouseHave you seen her? She may look a little bewildered trying to guide her kids around town. She might have had to sleep in the car with the kids in the local supermarket parking lot. The kids might not be able to go to school. Their clothing might not be appropriate for the weather. In the summer you might wonder why all their clothing is so heavy. In the winter, the clothing will look a little light. Then you realize, they're wearing everything they have; now it makes sense.Have you seen them? Maybe they just look frightened. Frightened that the next turn around the corner will bring violence into their lives - again.Have you seen them? If you have, theres a place that can help. You may have heard about Ann's House. Women who have children and are in the kind of situations just described have very few options available to them. As a result, they may have a very difficult time getting the services they need for themselves and their children so they can begin to rebuild their lives. Ann's House is a giant leap forward for struggling women in Greater Bangor. The new facility at our current campus is secure and enables women and their children to get themselves reconnected with supports and contacts in society. Our location on the bus route allows women to get downtown and receive the services they need to get back on their feet. Women will be able to access services through Manna's Outpatient Counseling Service, including counseling and case management, that will help them find and get jobs, secure independent housing, and regain their independence.Ann's House is a transition home and not a place for women with substance abuse. All women must be free from drugs and alcohol and adhere to strict rules and guidelines for their protection and the protection of their housemates.Ann's House has become a reality with your help. We ask you to consider prayerfully what you can contribute to assist this vital program! For further information about Ann's House, please contact us at 207-990-2870 Ext 122 or visit Ann's House online. For an article about Ann's House, please click here to see this Bangor Daily News article.
