Muskegon Rescue Mission

Muskegon Rescue Mission is the largest provider of continuous emergency shelter services in West Michigan.

Since 1907, food, shelter, clothing and spiritual direction has been provided to men, women and children experiencing homelessness.

When a guest arrives at the Mission, they immediately address their physical needs.

Once a guests physical needs have been met, they are then able to address the root cause of their distress and offer the spiritual nourishment necessary to effect true and lasting change.

Their objective is to bring people to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, thus bringing them to dependence upon God and independence within society.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, showers, clothing, chapel services, case management as well as health screenings are just a few of the services provided to all mission guests.

Counselors are on staff at both shelters for their guests.

I recently moved to Muskegon and I live nearby I am needing assistance with food. I am looking for a soup kitchen and possibly somewhere to shower or do laundry. The home I'm having to stay in right now doesn't have electricity and no hot water. Any information you can provide would be appreciated. I will be getting my own place in about 2 weeks just need some help until then I don't need shelter just help with food.

I live in Iowa and my 18 yr old granddaughter is from Muskegon and has no where to live. She has been staying with me since May 2020, but desperately wants to get back to Michigan. Is there any chance of her staying at the mission? She could get a job, but with no place to call home I don't know how. Please let me know of the possibilities you can offer if any.

How long are you allowed to stay here? I have 2 kids and am currently homeless and need somewhere to go until my fiance gets us our own place which should only take 2 months. I myself need help with getting childcare so that I can go to work and save up as well. Bad trying to get daycare assistance through DHS. I also could use help with my child support cases and food stamps. I'm not sure what this place is like or what they can offer me and my children which is why I'm explaining my situation a little. I'm unemployed because of the daycare situation and cant afford to stay anywhere. I need a change in my life and to never have to go through this again.
