I'm 55yrs old and I am living from house to house with friends. I can work ...I get homecare jobs but I need my own room or apartment. My salary is not enough so I find myself moving around. How can I apply for a affordable place?

I need help starting over. I was in an abusive relationship. I was lucky enough to find someone to help me out of that relationship however he is making this situation very uncomfortable by taking out anger on me and my daughter. But since I'm a stay at home mom I don't have many resources. I'm looking for help to become more independent and stop relying on men to step in and help out. I'm a hard worker just don't know where to start.
